This was my first time at Tastee Steam Kitchen and it definitely won't be my last! I brought my grandmaster here because he loves seafood and this place features steaming which is a lot healthier than cooking in oils. Plus, steaming allows the fresh sweetness of the seafood to shine through. We got the razor clams, porridge with chicken and cordyceps flower, the empress clams with the mung bean thread and garlic, regular clams, two abalone. We were going to order two scallops as that is his favorite, but Elvin the wonderfully honest server suggested we try the live spotted prawns instead as they were super sweet, juicy and fresh (tiem tiem ha in Cantonese, or "sweet sweet shrimp") and the scallops were small and not as satisfying. I'm glad we took his suggestion, and he gave us the happy hour discount too! I love honest and good service, and Elvin surely provided both - bringing food, steaming things, serving food at table side. I tipped him double, he deserved it! They have robot servers here too but Elvin obviously runs circles around them lol. Check this place out, it's great for a group or for a romantic date as the food presentation is unique and also tasty. Too bad I didn't take any photos! Will do so next time!

I celebrated my birthday at Tastee Steam Kitchen with my family, and it was an absolute delight! The all-you-can-eat hotpot experience was top-notch, and to top it off, I got to enjoy it for free on my special day. The service was prompt, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. Located in Oakland Chinatown, this spot is a must-visit for anyone craving a delicious hotpot feast. Will be coming back soon!

We (a party of 3) tried the Sauna steam pot. We did not order any set but tried geoduck/象拔蚌, garlic beef, razor clam, Chinese cabbage and the cordyceps flower & chicken porridge/虫草花鸡粥! They cook and serve you by the table, very nice service!

We really liked their diverse soup options! It's not often that we find hot pot base options that are not primarily made with beef or pork broth. Their selection of meat and side dishes was comprehensive. Timing of the food was fast. Broth and water glasses were refilled without having to ask our server. The robot's song when delivering an item got stuck in our heads for the remainder of the day!

I went with my friends here because they recommended it. THEY ALSO HAVE BOBA REFILLS! 1.) Location and parking - 3/5. If you're not used to being around this part of Oakland, you'll probably not be too excited to look forward to it. To us, it's not a bad walk depending on where you find parking. Also, there is public parking close where you can park but will have to pay. 2.) Operating hours and customer service - 3.5/5. We came here at night and we had an hour and 30 mins left which was not bad. They kind of have a slow service but it's because they are assisting other tables. 3.) Look/decorations - 4/5. The inside was ok, a regular AYCE restaurant look. 4.) Price - 4/5. I think the price was ok for the 4 of us in my group. Spent $200 here. 5.) Food Taste/quality - 5/5. The soup is so delicious. You can choose to add/make your sauce but I think it doesn't need other sauces. I don't normally go to hot pot places coz I'm not a fan of certain soup bases but this place has 6 choices. We got different kinds of meat so we could try and see which meat we would order again. We only ate the Hot pot since you'd be full of all the protein and veggies you're gonna be eating. I do recommend Tastee Steam Kitchen for people who are curious about the taste of their food so they can see whether they like the food or not. Worth trying!

This place is a hidden gem of oakland! I have been to many hotpot places but i have to say this is one i will definitely go back to if given the chance. The dining experience, the food, the ambiance everything is so fun and great! For this restaurant you could choose to do AYCE (all you can eat) hotpot, individual hotpots, grilled or steamed meats, sushi, bentos, donburis, noodles, dimsum, seafood boils, and so much sides and appetizers! To have THIS many dinig options in one place? Amazing. Service was decent, dishes came out relatively fast and the staff was very on top of getting things done. The place is very well kept and the inside is really nice. Very trendy place that would be ideal for group hangouts! I personally tried their mini hot pots and steamed clams. -The steamed meats are typically steamed at your table by a waiter if you order multiple dishes. The dish of clams was pretty large suitable for 2-4 people. The clams are just manila clams i believe but they are quite flavorful and you can also use some stuff at the sauce bar to flavor it yourself. -mini szechuan spicy hot pot: VERY tasty! I would say the meal is pretty heavy, probably can leave with extra leftovers and be pretty satisfied. -mini satay beef hot pot: YUMMY :)! I would have to say i was surprised by this one. It was super flavorful and savory. Has a slight sweetness to it as well and doesn't feel too heavy -mini mixed mushroom and chicken hot pot: delicious, this dish has lots of enoki mushrooms and chicken and the broth is light but filling -mini chicken and pork stomach pepper stew pot: Probably a favorite for me! The pork stomach is very tender and soft, the chicken complements the broth so well with the vegetables and everything else. This is a hotpot broth you will probably finish in a sitting. (: very light broth but flavorful and filling nonetheless If given the opportunity I would visit again and try out more things! But this place was well worth the visit and a great place in the oakland chinatown! The AYCE can be a little pricier than most other AYCE hotpot places but the menu seems to have lots of variety of ingredients. If you're looking for a nice place to drop by without so much traffic, worth the visit!

Expect the unexpected... If you are like me, someone who is easily overwhelmed by the vast number of choices, this restaurant will for sure give you anxiety. The good kind, though. They have offerings of almost every single Asian food under the sun, from Ramen to sushi, from hot pot to steamed items, from Boba to alcoholic beverages. However, the most interesting and unique offering in this restaurant is no doubt the steamed items. They also have a pre-determined steamed set for first time triers for around ~$140. I highly recommend the abalone, spotted prawns and definitely getting the porridge which sucks up all the juices of the steamed seafood items. The porridge is served at the end (it hangs out at the bottom of the steam baskets) and you will have to request it on the side. It is pretty pricey at $20 but it is very large, and sooo soooo good. The service here is borderline between good and bad. It's common for any Asian restaurants. The servers are attentive, but they also won't necessarily take the time to explain all the food items on the menu. So I recommend that you check out the menu before going. Overall, a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back to try the other items as well.

We came for the ayce hot pot and were quite pleasantly surprised by our experience here! The restaurant was clean and spacious and when we got there, we were greeted and seated almost immediately. To be fair, since moving to the east bay (Richmond/Berkeley/Oakland) had been saddened by the lack of good hot pot options in the area, especially compared to sf, peninsula and South Bay. The hot pot here was solid, not the best we've had, but it was definitely satisfying for us not having to drive 30 miles to get to anything decent. The soup bases were solid and the meats were fresh and delicious. Some items did come frozen which didn't turn out to be a huge problem since they go into hot boiling soup anyway. We wished that they had veggies like bok choy or pea sprouts and also fried tofu, which they were out when we visited. We were also pleasantly surprised that there is complimentary boba tea - and pretty decent one at that! In the hot pot desert that is the east bay, this is a solid option and we will certainly be back for more. They also do steamed seafood meals but looks like something that would require a bigger group though.

I'm completely onboard with the steam restaurant concept. After all, I've usually been the first one to order steamed chicken at Chinese restaurants, and steamed spare ribs are a priority for me at dim sum spots. This spacious eatery has been operating in Oakland Chinatown for at least six years, but I only recently gave it a shot on a dark, rainy day. The tables are huge since they all come equipped with fire pit burners. The menu was filled with dishes that take advantage of the flames, and my attention veered to the Mini Pots page. I went for the $19 Lamb Brisket & Pork Ribs Pot that added dried tofu sticks, ginger, garlic, tofu puffs, Napa cabbage, and glass noodles to the thick, hearty broth (photo: https://bit.ly/3K2eb4Z). I think I must have missed out on the steamer tray of bubbling congee that apparently lies underneath, but maybe that comes with bigger orders. As a side dish of sorts, the Steam Mini-Minced Chicken in Glutinous Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf served my needs (photo: https://bit.ly/3FMwSa7). It was exactly what the name described with that chewy consistency I find comforting. Cantonese-style comfort. FOOD - 4 stars...steamed food well executed with flavor AMBIANCE - 4 stars...spacious and private enough SERVICE - 4 stars...attentive...there was a robot server rolling about but it didn't stop at my table (photo: https://bit.ly/42AOCir) TOTAL - 4 stars...hot pots for one, I can dig it

I was a bit skeptical when I first visited. The street and the surroundings are not too clean, the menus and layouts are a bit chaotic, and the most importantly, they have 3 different menus and food options ranging from cajun style seafood to hot pot to regular Chinese dishes to sushi... BUT......EVERYTHING is good.....till today I still can't comprehend what magic are they working in their kitchen. My favorite food are the lamb skewers and the wagyu. I'm very picky when having Shabushabu. I like my meat soft but I hate fatty meat. Their wagyu meat is soft and tender but at the same time not that fatty, AND it's ALL YOU CAN EAT...it's heaven...
